The SDSA were again at the New Forest Show this year, between 30th July and 1st August.
We were well stocked with signed shirts, A3 photos of players from the 23/24 season and previous seasons, many signed by the players in the photo, books, signed balls, and goody bags for younger visitors.
We were also able to borrow the FA Cup for visitors to have their photos taken with.
Over the 3 days we were delighted that many ex Saints were able to join us and chat with visitors, and also have a photo and items signed.
We had David Peach, Mark Dennis, Matt Le Tissier, Peter Rodrigues, Mick Earls, and Manny Andruszewski. We also had a visit from the Bishop of Southampton, and at one point we had the Bishop and Le God in one place.
The only problem was the extreme heat (30+ degrees on the Tuesday) as visitors tended to leave the show after lunch so we saw a drop in visitors to our stand.
While Manny was with us, he told that when he played for Saints (1970s), players didn’t have names on their shirt and if he was called to the ref after a robust tackle and was asked his name, he would say “Andruszewski” and because the ref couldn’t spell his name and the card was quite small he would say to Manny, “I’ll let you off this time and don’t do it again”. Manny was rarely booked!
Despite the intense heat, we had a good show and a lot more people know about us and what we do.
Take a look at a view photos of what happened.
Less than a year to the New Forest Show 2025. See you there!
