On Thursday 28th August, the SDSA held their annual Open Day in the Dell Cafe at St Mary’s.
There were many local organisations that took up our invitation to have an area in the Dell Cafe, including MS Society (Southampton Branch), Hampshire Riding Therapy, Hampshire Autism Society, Solent Sharks rugby team, Southampton Sight, and well known programme seller Andrew Murray.
Our Treasurer, Lyn, once again became Mary Berry and made cakes for the cake stall, as well as a cake for a “Guess the Weight” competition.
Entertainment was provided by Martin Middleditch and Dave Bonney who were on hand to show off their magic skills, and Gary Loveridge of the Saints Foundation helped tire the younger attendees, by manning the inflatable goal outside.
We were very fortunate to have many ex-Saints players and managers attend during the afternoon, including Matt Le Tissier (who also joined with the kick abouts outside), Rueben Agboola, Lawrie McMenemy, Mark Dennis, Jim Steele, Dave Merrington, and stalwart SDSA supporter, Nick Holmes.
Later in the afternoon, current Saints star, Sam Gallagher, arrived and helped Nick Holmes draw the Summer Draw. Take a look at companies that donated prizes as well as the people that won them.
We would like to thank The Saints Foundation, Halo Conferencing, and of course Southampton Football club, who played a massive part in the success of the day.
