The SDSA quiz was held on Thursday 27th March 2014, after being postponed in December.
This quiz was held to raise funds, and we are very grateful for the huge support from Eugene McManus, the landlord of The Saints Pub where the quiz was held, as he provided the room and food for free, so we were able to keep as much of the money raised as possible.
Eight teams were entered, comprising of between 4 to 6 members, and they competed for a cash prize. Of the teams, there were 3 from The Saints Pub plus a team mainly made up of the Saints Foundation at Saints (how well they did, or didn’t do, with the Saints history round will not be mentioned here!!).
Our Quiz Master, Chris Dyer, kicked the questioning off at 8pm prompt, and there were a total of 10 rounds, plus 2 “Starter for 10” rounds and 2 “Who am I” rounds where clues were given and the teams got more points the less clues they needed to guess who,
The questions were compiled by SDSA Committee member Mark Harpur, and ranged from the Saints history to books, music, general knowledge and top 10 boys children names.
The winning team were Mia’s Marauders, and they received the cash prize of £60. They very generously returned £50 towards the SDSA’s fund raising effort for which we are very grateful.
In total £241 was raised from team entries and a raffle, and we would like to thank everyone that were in the teams and bought raffle tickets, making the evening such a success.
