SDSA Chairman Andy Mather said “David fits with our aims to encourage participation in disability sports, and so we are delighted he has agreed to be an Ambassador for our Association.”

David has won many medals in his boccia career and provides a sporting link to Solent Boccia who we sponsor.

David was awarded a MBE in the 2017 New Year Honours, and was awarded the OBE in the 2022 New Year Honours.

David Smith commented: “I am delighted to be an ambassador for the disabled supporters’ association of the club I support. My Dad is a former season ticket holder, and my best friend Jack is Saints through and through. In countries like Portugal, there is a long established link between League football clubs and local Boccia clubs and I am glad to see this relationship is being replicated in Southampton. If I can inspire other people to get involved with sport and active lifestyles that would be incredible!”
